I got it. So far everything seems to work except after suspend the stylus refuses to start up again. I tried the fix that somebody wrote up on thinkwiki, but it's still not working. I guess it's not essential. Ciao.

Go for it Stuart, but be sure to back up any vital data first if you are doing a dual boot!

Thanks for the tip off Robert, Ubuntu was already on my list of things to do after my exams, the new version gives me more reason to start reading up now.

Get a shiny new thinkpad? Linux on laptops has always been trickier than on desktops. because of all the obscure hardware on laptops. It might be worth googling "feisty fawn thinkpad" over the next few weeks to see how folk are getting on with it. Dual boot shouldn't make any difference to the performance of the two systems really - as far as one OS is concerned there's just a chunk of hard drive that it's not interested in where the other OS resides.

crap. pardon my french! it looks so cool! ok, so i used to have double boot, ubuntu and xp, on my machine. i ended up using lots of windows because the tablet features were supported, because powerpoint was quicker and prettier and because geometer's sketchpad wasn't running on ubuntu. also, i am not a geek, read i'm really slow, so i couldn't get all the plug-ins to work with my firefox (they did on windows). however, my xp was painfully slow, could have been due to a load of junk that ibm puts on their thinkpads. so, couple of days ago i decided to get vista (mostly because it looks cool, but guess what half of the cool stuff won't run because my video card is crappy). i removed ubuntu :( and loaded vista, and not it is much quicker. but i am rather attached to linux. not sure what to do. i could do a dual os again, but i'm afraid neither will run properly. ideas?
